This semester I apply for exchange to Netherlands or mainland China. If I could obtain the chance to be the exchange student, there are two things I would focus on: the operation mode of the foreign companies, and the policy which the external government and companies face the Post-WTO Era.
On the first topic, Netherlands and mainland China both are good examples. Because Netherlands is a traditional country on international trade and owns many international companies, for example: Philip and ABN AMRO, it is sure that there are many things we can learn from those international companies, including international marketing, strategy and management. On mainland China, it only opens itself only 25 years and become the most important country products and exports goods. Its achievement is great but it also has many problems. Besides, Netherlands and mainland China are two extra examples of the Post-WTO Era under the trade liberation which is the mainstream of international trade. International trading is the specialty of Netherlands, and it should be the vested interests from canceling custom duty. However, the Europe countries including Netherlands meet the competition of the low-price product from mainland China. By the other hand, mainland China has to face another issue in the Post-WTO Era, the pressure to open its market. Without local government protection, the companies of mainland China have to face huge challenge from other countries. We can image that the situation of international trade is very different in the Post-WTO Era. Those differences are what I am interesting in and want to understand.
Through the position of exchange student to either Netherlands or mainland China, I can observe the topics I care deeply. The materials I collect during the period also will be the content of my master thesis. I believe that the experience also will be a good training for my future work.
In summary, the period of exchange student position, I will focus on the course I take and the materials I care, external companies operations and government policy. Besides, I also would like to understand the cultures there and enhance my experience to cooperate with other people come from different area.
